This is KINDA how we are going to look tonight!

OKay...since I dont' have my OWN pictures of what we look like for Halloween...and I am in charge of my SON'S School Halloween party...(I know, I'm new at the WHOLE pressure "Will you be the ROOM MOM thing...it only is this and this"...THING) So go ahead and laugh all you MORE experienced MOM's ...either way, I don't have time!

So I went for SLUTTY Burlesque... like this

Except I'm not a nurse...and this is NOT my party that is being held...I just liked the picture because it looks EXACTLY like me! :)

This is DCar's costume...after weeks and weeks of trying to decide what to be...he caves and goes for LEAST creative...the GRIM REAPER! Bleh...but the kid was SO excited I couldn't make him feel TOO bad!

PeePs looks like this...except totally different...the only thing that's the same is the leg warmers, tutu, and hair...everything else is changed! But we are calling her a Fairy Princess! :)

And this is what MountainSport Man is going to be...it was easy...we made his skin WHITER...put in some FAKE fangs...and spiked his hair. Put a name tag on him that says, "I'm Shelle's Edward...get your own!"

Okay...scratch the name tag...but that might be a really GOOD idea...so I might actually do it...if I do, I'll get a picture. But he is going as Edward...

Can't fault a girl for wanting her VERY OWN blood sucking vampire for a day???

Can't wait to see what YOU guys came up with!

Oh...BTW...I actually am a FINALST for THIS contest...Go click on my name "SHELLE" if you like my story best (which, of course, you will)

SO GO VOTE FOR ME...because if you don't, then I will be ashamed that I'm not as POPULAR as I think I am...don't make me actually PAY for a therapist...that would just be sad! :)

Now I'm going to be thought of as UN-Creative!!!

You know what sucks more than wasting a post on CONTEST rules? It sucks that one can NEVER have an original idea about anything because it's already been done!!!

Or so it seems in the blogging world.

Everyone knows I am a wanna-be-writer…always have been.

My parents say it has something to do with never reaching "my potential". My husband says I have a bad habit of talking myself out of things.

Either way…I'm a Professional Wanna-be in A LOT of things…and NO ONE…I mean NO ONE can take that away from me!

For instance…

I feel like I can never tell you guys about how MountainSport Man and I met because I don't want people thinking I am copying this story of THEIR wild and crazy romance…cause even though OUR story is pretty crazy, less romantic, but good to say the least…it just couldn't and wouldn't be written AS WELL, and so I feel like it wouldn't be given its justice…it would just be another passing couple story, trying to be like THEIR story, and that's IT!

I couldn't deal with that. The FAILURE!!!

Another example…

I've always wanted to write a Romance Story. But not a relatable one…one that touches in the paranormal…the unbelievable…because the best thing about reading a book, I THINK, is being taken away to somewhere UNREALISTIC…where a lot of the time there is Happy Endings, and good feelings, and the heroine of the story gets what they want!

But can I write that story now?

NO…

Because incredible and crazy writer Stephenie Meyer took that away from me. Now if I write a book I will always be known as the girl or WOMAN the followed the all time great Stephenie Meyer's TWILIGHT series…that nothing could be COMPARED to that…so on, and so forth. Even though there have been HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of incredible great paranormal romance stories before the TWILIGHT series, and most definitely will be AFTER the series…for some reason I feel if I attempted to write one…that I wouldn't do it justice anymore…that I would be plagiarizing in a way.

I'm just keeping it real people!

Last, if not BEST, example:

Sue from Navel Gazing at its Finest, whose writing I ALREADY adore but only updates her blog once a week or twice, if we are lucky, wrote TWO posts yesterday!!! And because I have Google Reader I was notified of the second post! I was freaking excited to see what she had to say. The title was, "Where Sue gets herself into a bit of a pickle"…so of course I hopped right over to see what in the heck could be more of a pickle then forgetting to pick up her Kindergarten daughter from school…which would've been her FIRST post of yesterday.

It wasn't only INCREDIBLE…it was AMAZAZING

She has been writing this other blog…"My Super Hopeless Romance" about a girl named CORDY…but the cool thing is, she wrote it in blog/journal style…AND she didn't tell her readers it was only fiction! Seriously GENIUS! She just started the blog up and started writing about a LOVE or CRUSH this Cordy had with her best friend and people reading the blog thought that CORDY was a real person…telling her life story…

Not understanding what the hullabaloo was all about, cause I had never heard of her other blog before yesterday, (she already had over a 100 comments by the time the post showed up in my Reader) I decided to go over and check it out.

From the very first post I was ENTHRALLED by this fictional characters romance. She is relate-able! (Although Cordy is sometimes dumb…is whiny a lot of the time…which is funny because SUE wrote this post about a dumb BELLA from another popular series and totally ripped on her…yet her character, to me, is somewhat the same, because she is totally in love with Seth and it effects her whole life…interesting...I'm not saying that's a bad thing...who doesn't let their infatuation rule their life?)

I read the whole thing in like an hour and a half. And RIGHT when it was getting to the good part of the story, fictional or not, she cuts bait…and your left unfulfilled. You see, this unassuming blog became EXTREMELY popular. People were wrapped up in CORDY's life…giving her advice…emailing SUE what this CORDY should do…only they thought they were emailing CORDY…not SUE. Anyway, Sue started feeling guilty about people thinking, because they had no other reason NOT to, that CORDY was real! So SUE let the cat of the bag (hey that's two post in a row that I mentioned that phrase…)!

But it was great writing! Seriously! You should go over there when you have time and read it!

And BRILLIANT that it was swept up like it was!

But getting to my point…now my crazy unsuspecting blog I WAS GOING TO START can not be any longer ***shakes head***. Because NOW I would be copying SUE.

*Throws hands up in the air*

I can't WIN! I have TOO many grammar mistakes as it is, anyway, to be a writer.

Do you sometimes decide not to post about something because it seems to have already been POSTED about and you don't want to be thought of as a plagiarizer…or worse…uncreative?

Love,

Shelle

That's why I'm the photographer!

The BEST thing about being the PHOTOGRAPHER on a family or children shoot is that I'm not my HELPER!

Seriously...it's a hard job...and sometimes downright degrading.

If you get a child who won't laugh or smile...you have to use creative measures to get them to...

Helpers also have to pay attention to those I'm taking a picture of to make sure they are looking their best! They also have to make sure they concentrate on looking at the lens and not the HELPER while he/she is dancing around acting like a made crazed person to get the little one to smile!

It's GREAT! For me anyways...

But I'm also incredibly lucky...because I have SWEET family members who volunteer their time to be MY helper!

A few weeks ago when I went to take pics for a family...my Sister-in-Law KT came along as my helper!

I couldn't have found a better helper if I had PAID them..(Although she did raise her helper prices from FREE to a meal at Carl's Jr.--Best $3 I ever invested in!!!)

Here she is tying the little tyke's shoes...the parents had wandered off to take care and play with the other 4 kids and we were trying to work with little Man here to get one pic of him smiling!

See...I just get to snap away while she makes sure the kid is picture perfect!

Here she is trying to show the kids what they need to do for the picture...and trying to convince them how cool it is!

Seriously...she was awesome...had to snap a pic of it!!!

So I'm giving KT a shout out!

Telling her that even though she IS technically my Sister-in-Law...which legally gives me the right to hate and complain about her...

I choose to look at her as more of just a sister...like my true FLESH and BLOOD...

Because, dang it, I love her! And her comedic husband! And her two adorable kids!

Plus, on Saturday she turned 31, I believe...which makes her OLDER than me and makes me love her even more...because NO MATTER how much cuter she looks, how much MORE weight she has lost, or how LIKEABLE she is to everyone around her...

I'll always have that!

Happy Birthday Freak Show...i love ya!

Shelle

P.S. So who wants to be my NEW HELPER??? Cause I'm pretty sure now that I've let the cat out of the bag...I might just lose my volunteers!

A Waste...Voting at the Poll...and Internet Dating...

You know what sucks about holding a contest...is when you have to waste a WHOLE post to explain it. Ya know? Totally annoying!!!

Anyway...now we have our FINAL FOUR...which is WAY more exciting then the final four during March Madness...

Just saying...

Those four are:
Week 1-Kenz (A funny yet sad story of heroism and honeymoons)

Week 2-Nan (An embarrassing story of confetti down there!)

Week 3-Shannon (A funny story of Drive Thru windows and Birds chirping!!!)

Week 4-Bonnie (talking about nipples and pipes and everything nice to Brad Pitt!)

Here are what the FOUR are competing for:

They can pick the color they want and get to engrave something on the back! Pretty cool right? :) Now this is a SHUFFLE...not to be confused with a NANO...got it...NO SCREENS on these babies...just something to click on yourself while you listen to your tunes!

Okay...this is how it will go...

On my RIGHT hand side bar there will be a POLL...with each of their names...you just CLICK on the name of the person you want to vote for and VIOLA...it's done!

Now I would appreciate it if you would ONLY vote ONCE...but it's on your honor because I will have no way of monitoring it! You will have until October 31, 2008 to vote...all the way up until MIDNIGHT--MST TIME....wooooooo...Maybe it will be like EBAY and I stay up watching until the last minute to see who comes out the winner? Or maybe I will take a shower, pick my dry boogers, turn off my lights so the Trick or Treaters will know I am SCROOGE of Halloween and nod off to bed?

One never knows!

Okay...the voting starts now...

Kenz, Nan, Shannon, and Bonnie? You might want to get people to come over and vote for you all week...text message your friends and family or pay people off! Whatever you must do...just make sure you mention somewhere in your post how COOL I am...(I wouldn't have to say that if I really WAS cool...but oh well!)

Okay...well...the rest of my friends...that stick with me even when I have to waste a post on explaining DUMB rules about contests...

Will you answer me ONE THING?

If you could meet me in person...Would you? Or what that freak you out? Like internet dating does with some people...although I find it quite romantic...Internet dating that is...not meeting my BBFF's in person!

Just wondering...

Love,

Shelle

Don't You Hate It When...Come Play! Come Vote!

***GUESS WHAT!!! BONNIE is the winner this week! And now we have our final four!!! Bonnie I will be sending you your cool button for winning in week four!!!

I must preface this by saying...my cousin Natalie has a private blog and sent me this photo in an email...I was so grossed out, appalled, and laughing, that I told her I must post it for her!

So This is HER entry...you can VOTE for this one if you feel it is the most ROFL or repugnant...whichever! But really, you will think about this on and off today, so you might as well vote for it! Good Luck Nat!

Don't You Hate It When...

You just really, REALLY, want to win.

This photo was entitled Diarrhea...

Just in case you didn't pick up on what he has all over him!

Did you lose your lunch like I did? Forget it...I lost breakfast, lunch, and couldn't even think about eating dinner! This is the very reason why I DON'T run marathons...

That...and not being in shape for one and the toenails falling off!

Ready to play?

Here is the jist of it!

1. Don't you hate it when is the theme. Your post must TRY to be humorous or awe inspiring! You can link a picture, personal or not, tell a story, link to a video or post a personal video...whatever...as long as it is attempting to make us Roll On Floor Laughing, or in text form (ROFL)! Click
here for examples. Then add your name and the specific post for the contest to the MR. LINKY at the bottom. If you add a video, story, or picture that is NOT yours or originally yours...then you must give credit where credit is due. But you all know that.

2. Please remember to link back to my site so that others can play along with us!!!

3. Keep it clean in a PG-13 kinda way. If there is a post that is inappropriate...in my eyes only...then I will be forced take them off, which I hate to be forced to do anything. And for those that feel they can judge and want to email me that they feel a post might be inappropriate...don't waste your time, because I will ignore it...as long as I am okay with it...sorry, your opinion doesn't matter. But I still love ya! :)

4. Oh and Have Fun...most important rule...you must be able to laugh at your own posts! :)

VOTING-it's easy...After reading those who entered...just scroll down to the VERY bottom of this post...past MR. LINKY...past the P.S. and there should be a link that says "comments" click on that and vote away for your favorite post! "I vote #0 Shelle". If you are ANONYMOUS I ask that you attach your name and email address at the bottom of your comment...or shoot me an email to vote, all of this so that I know you are a REAL person! :) And remember...you can only vote once!

(If you have won already...
KENZ and NAN and SHANNON you can't win this week...but if you post a Don't You Hate It When post and link up...I will count that as an extra vote when we vote for the winner of the month!)

Okay this is what you are playing for in the month of OCTOBER

You can pick your own color and engrave something on the back! If you have one yourself...you can always use it as a Christmas Gift for someone else...Pretty cool right? :)

Okay...now LINK away!

Love Shelle

You have until 10 am MST on Tuesday October 28, 2008 to vote for your favorite!!!

Someone was murdered!!! Read on...

Last night was fun...although somewhat scandalous...I call it fun!

I'm not anything if not totally and completely a gossip! Truly!

A few weeks ago I attended a high class dinner with my LOVER who we shall name Mr. Green...since this is my journal I can divulge that I have a lover...otherwise I would have to kill you for letting you in on the secret, but you won't tell anyone...right?

Well just last week I was summoned by a court order to appear at the house of Sir William Wright...

Apparently, at that glorious and plush dinner there was a murder...and ALL that attended the dinner were being called back to figure out who the murderer was.

Because the dinner we attended was in the honor of someone HIGHLY famous they didn't want to bring unwanted publicity to it...so we were to attend ANOTHER dinner in this person's honor with the sole purpose of figuring out who the murderer was...

I, of course, was appalled about the murder...but being the person that I am, a highly curious and best Relief Society gossiper around, I KNEW without a doubt in my heart who killed the poor person that shall-not-be-named at the house and dinner party of a HIGHLY famous person that cannot-be-named...so I HAD to go, to pour out my knowledge to those who may not have as quick and keen of a mind such as myself...nor do they have the ability to KNOW about everyone as I did...

Just saying...

These were our place cards...they wrote my name in as MRS. Green...isn't that nice, they knew we weren't married, but lovers...yet it was TOO scandalous to invite the same lover twice to such a dinner party...so they made subtle changes...I mean, they couldn't put on it "Mr. Green's LOVER" now could they?

This was our mug shot...they called it a, "Memory Shot"...for evidence...I made sure not to crack a smile, I heard they can figure out a lot by a person's teeth...and color of teeth--I outsmarted them!!! Mr. Green and I had been busy in the coat closet right before this...unfortunately he was still a little distracted...(Shaking my head--I have that affect on people...it's a curse). I made sure to give them my most, "Don't mess with me look"!

Miss Scarlet...the skank...sorry, but she is...was there also! Looking even MORE beautiful than she did the first dinner. Although, the poor boy toy she drug along to attend dinner with her was smitten! We get along famously, Miss Scarlet and I!!! (I wonder if he has any money, maybe when I'm bored with Mr. Green, or spend all his funds, I can move onto him! hmmm...)

Mrs. Peacock brought along her husband...they seem to get along fine, but with a chin structure like that? Who couldn't get along with him? She looks highly suspicious...no?

Colonel Mustard brought along his "wife"...we all know that his plus one and a half was not REALLY his...but though the guy looks like he can wack off your head with one fell swoop of his sword arm...I hear he's a teddy bear--the thought of him murdering ANYBODY is ludicrous...but I never REALLY felt that tummy of hers...maybe she's hiding something, or SOMEONE, in there? One must leave all things open if they want to come to any conclusions...can't rule something out just because looks are very deceiving!

Mrs. White..."the maid and cook", worse one I've ever come across...sat with the homey she is pictured with...although they didn't come together...there WERE suspicous noises coming from the kitchen and NEITHER of them were around when we heard the noises...so we suspected they were TOGETHER...they seem pretty close in this picture...don't you think? She died her hair, got more modern glasses, and definitely had some stuff done on her face since the last time we all spied her!

Professor Plum brought along his college student...who attended the first dinner, saying she was there for research purposes for her "Class English Paper"...none of us were fooled...we ALL knew why she was there. The Professor likes them young, doesn't make him a murderer though...or does it?

There was lots of drinking...and conversing...and suspicious looks being glared back and forth.

Some very interesting potions and things being mixed up...I called it "Happy Mist"...Just saying...

From this point of view...nobody looks like they could kill anybody!

But then again...after putting that photo through my "True Self Machine"...this is what I got...and Mrs. Peacock looks like she is ready to kill someone and her Plus One looks willing and able to assist!

When it came down to it all...after three tries trying to figure it out...It was the last person I suspected...

It was Professor Plum, In the Ballroom, with the Lead Pipe!

What a pansy...who kills with a lead pipe anymore?

How was your weekend? Missed ya!

Love,

Shelle

P.S. Last chance to become one of the Final Four for the IPOD SHUFFLE in my Don't You Hate It When contest...see ya tomorrow!!!

Color or De-Saturation? FX4!!!

***Join in this weeks fun over at Candid Carrie's...you might have to push and shove because people are rowdy over there and SOME people butt in line to get a better spot in the LINKY line up...but it's lots of fun!!! It's like fighting for your FAVORITE TOY on the day after Thanksgiving sales!!!

When I first got into taking pictures I went through this phase where I de-saturated everything...like out of an old polaroid picture...(I'm totally singing, "Shake it like a polaroid picture" because I just typed that...remember, I have that annoying habit, you're lucky you are not around to hear it, it would be stuck in your head all day!!! *cue wicked laugh now*)

For example...

This...(I can't get over my bangs here...what the blunt cut?)

And this...(Does it look like my daughter has an extremely LONG tongue to you? Maybe I should try to steer her life closer to the ROCK Band sort of thing?)

Now I'm extremely into color...the brighter and more POP the better when I edit!!!

See this...I love the dark that contrasts with the bright green of the trees and red of the bridge!

And this...(I know, I know, sweetheart...what we adults make you do to get a good pic!)

It's weird how my fancy and style keep changing...but yet, I still love de-saturated once in a while!!!

On my quest to become ever better at this LOVE I have of photography I ask you...What are you? Color? De-Saturated? Black and White? Sepia? No editing whatsoever pleases you better?

I want to know...so if you have time...can you tell me?

Love,

Shelle

Where I give away my free time!!! :)

Over at Crash Test Dummies(CTD)...one of my very new favorite sites, thanks to the Funny Farm...she is having a contest and her partner in crime (who is her long lost cousin? Over at Art-n-Sewl) is doing it with her!!!

So this is what happened. CTD, I have been noticing, has been hanging around at my joints, my hangouts, my PeePs' blogs...sarcastically commenting and leaving her incredible creative writing talents spread around like a disease to the rest of us who have no creative writing talent whatsoever--out showing us all!!! Each post is funnier then the next (forget about her comments) and her follower numbers are creeping up, ever so quickly, where she will by pass me like all the rest of you have (Please all you Provo bloggers out there, follow ME not her, I may not leave you holding your sides laughing, but I got REE from Pioneer Woman to comment on my blog, doesn't that count for anything?)...yet I have been doing this blogging thing for alot longer--where's the respect!!! (that is a subliminal message to follow me if you haven't already)

I decided to use her naive beginner blogging friendship to my advantage...

She asked me to donate a prize to her contest she is doing (FORGET THE FACT that it is a super fabulous contest and idea)

...by stroking my ego and telling me how AMAZING my picture taking skills are...while also, telling me hers are less superior than mine (if you read her blog...you know she is a total over exaggerater for the expense of writing a good post--so what I am saying is, she totally lied! :))-so I am giving away my free time to some unsuspecting family to take their pictures....booowawahahaha...and guess what...I'm even going to travel to them if they don't live near me...how's THAT for taking advantage of her!!!hahahahaha!

What?

She has the upper hand?

She had me at "stroking my ego"?

Okay, your right...I also lie!

WEll anyway, go over to her site...or her long lost cousins site and enter her contest with your BEST 500 written word, real or not real, ghost story!!!

And YES I am extremely envious that she got TAMNers to donate to her contest...hello...even though TAMNers is making fun of people that talk like she does on her blog, I was already that way before her dumb and popular blog even started, who says SERIOUSLY all the time on her blog???!!! Me...that would be me! It's like High School all over again...I never get the credit! (I love you TAMNers and your so blessed husband JJWT and your double FETI growing in your hard rock belly...call me...donate to my contest!)

And may the best blogger win!!!

Love

Totally-taken-advantage-of-Shelle

P.S.--BTW...the other prizes are INCREDIBLE and fun and I hope I win Katie Holme's $50.00!!!

He's Old...really really OLD!

Today is an incredibly special day. Today 34 years ago, the man of my dreams, my other half, my one and only, my husband, was born into this world!

I can honestly say that I married a really good man. He's an incredible father to his kids and treats me, most of the time :), like gold!

This is what I mean.

1. He won't park in Handicap stalls because 1) it's against the law and 2) he doesn't want to be parked there if by some chance there is someone that actually might need the parking space.

2. He goes to church and fulfills his callings because of his testimony of the gospel and "it's what he's suppose to do".

3. He comes home from work or school and instead of being grumpy and mean and telling his wife and kids to give him a half hour to relax from the day…he wants to play with his kids and make out with his wife. Pretty much that is the routine EVERYDAY!

4. To my ever-consistent-back-seat-driver-tactics, he won't speed, because again, it's against the law and it's not safe. This one IS a good thing I know and understand…but it’s a hard one for me because I am forever late and since I began driving I have had somewhat of a lead foot…but no matter what, and no matter where we have to be, he obeys all traffic laws…yet, he'll throw himself down a steep mountain terrain on a bike that has two slim wheels or a board with himself strapped in because he "loves the adrenline rush"! Explain THAT one to me?

5. Even though I have gained weight since having my kids…he still tells me and SHOWS me how sexy he thinks I am…right there should give him the NOBLE PEACE PRIZE among married couples…just saying.

6. The few times in my life when he has been needed to stand up for ME…he has been there, my ever Knight in Shining Armor! He always makes sure I am taken care of first...whether that is using his jacket because I forgot mine in below zero temperatures...or other things behind closed doors! :)

Same goes for his kids. Except for the behind closed doors part. He is always playing the Martyr...our secret joke! lol!

7. Speaking of kids…after having each kid, those first few weeks, he was the first one to get out of bed…change their diaper…and return them to me so I could feed them, EACH FEEDING,so like every two hours (with my first one, while I was recovering down there, he even would wake up after I fed them, then burp them, see if they needed to be changed again, and put them back in bed)…even though he had to work the next morning! When he was home, he also bathed them and got them ready for bed and held them until it was time to feed them to put them down for the night.

8. Since we have been married…every night when he FINALLY rolls into bed after doing homework or watching his favorite TV show then falling asleep then waking up to come into bed…he will scoot all the way over to my side of the bed (I like to sleep right on the edge) and cuddle right up to me.

9. Even though I have an alarm to wake me up in the VERY EARLY morning…he knows I have a hard time waking up…so he sets his phone alarm and then proceeds to caress, poke, and kiss me awake until I finally get out of bed. Really…this is the routine EVERY morning that I've had to get up for anything…whether it be my WORK now or when we were first married and I taught a dance team at a College and we practiced in the mornings…it's always been the same!

10. When I don't have to go to work early…and this has also been since we have been married…I get woken up by caresses or kisses for a whole other reason…regardless if we have fought the night before or…well…NOT fought the night before and amused ourselves doing other things. :)

11. After we eat dinner and it is our turn to clean up. Most of the time he is the first to get up and clear off the table and load the dish washer. Although he does leave those NASTY BIG dishes for me, the ones that you have to use your whole body to scrub off! But this is about his GOOD qualities! Lol!

12. He stepped outside of his comfort zone to go back to school at an older age to obtain his degree so that he could provide a better standard of living for us…his family! :) He told me that we will always be provided for no matter how many jobs he has to take on. It is killing him that I have to work while he goes to school because he knows I'd rather stay home with the kids. But now, he says I must keep my job because he's not willing to give up the benefits (I work at an airline!)--go figure! :)

13. He insists on showering with me. He makes sure those hard to reach places are thoroughly cleaned! lol!

14. He has never given me a hard time about Girls Nights Out or Girls Weekends(which actually happen quite often)...he just plans a full day of fun activities for him and the kids...in fact, I never hear from him...in the beginning it use to make me feel bad, but NOW I appreciate it! :)

15. He's got incredible green/hazel eyes...with lashes longer than any man has a right to have!

16. His lips are beautiful...and he'll only get me to say this, this one time, PERFECT...the little scar he got from falling off his mountain bike and rolling down a moutain...only ADDS to them!

17. His height is 6'1" which fits my 5'7" frame perfectly!

18. He has a husky, sexy, phone voice...no lie...half our courtship I preferred to call him just to hear his voice!

19. He's a manly man...but one of his favorite shows is Extreme Home Make Over...and every time he sees the ending where the family says, "Move That BuS"...he is softly crying.

20. And to me...and I'm only speaking for myself...He's Dang Sexy!!!

So if you have the time...tell him Happy Birthday...and whatever else you wish to say! lol! But remember...in the end...he's MINE, all MINE, and the sucker is stuck with me FOREVER!!! Thank goodness for Temple Marriage! :)

Let me be the first on this blog to say, Happy Birthday Sweetheart! You still look good for an old fart! :)

Love,

Shelle

P.S. Someone must have punk'd me or REE really left a comment on my blog! lol! No lie...just go and check out the comments from the post below! Of COURSE, she is going to come over to my blog when I state that I've given up! lol! So even though I imagine someone is probably playing a joke...I'm taking it as successfully getting her to comment on my blog...even though the credit again has to go to my valiant soldiers Binks, Kritta, and Insane Mama (please come back IM everyone in the blog world will miss you!!!) I'm sure I'll write more about this when it isn't my husband's birthday! :)

Annoying or Endearing Part 4

Okay here's another one of those posts where I tell you a little bit about myself.

To some these habits may be flawed and to some this habits or qualities may be endearing...if you relate to them.

I have already admitted I stare at people, sing when someone says something that strikes as familiar words to a song, and that I laugh at the most in-opportune times, so you already know those things...oh and the fact that I am obsessed with picking dry boogers so that I never have to be humilated by a cliff hanger again...oh and that I have racy dreams about book characters I read...

What? I haven't told you that yet?

Ummm...scratch that last dirty little secret...

My fingers where taken over by some foreign influence! I swear...like I would read books with Romantic Hero's with bodies ripped and defined who are manly men and aren't afraid of anything...but are also most sensitive and romantic when dealing with the ones they love...Yea...like I'm way to cool for that crap! (Edward? Jacob? Call me!)

Anyway...for what I'm about to divulge will either make you understand me more...or make you turn away in disgust...whichever it is...all I ask is for an open mind and to tell all you know about reading it on my BLOG page...because there is nothing better than WORD-of-MOUTH and bad press can be good press, right?

Okay...I have no patience. That's it! I have prayed everyday, whether on my knees or in my mind for patience...

But to tell you the truth...I don't even have patience to wait for an answer...or to be patient to gain my patience! It's a vicious cycle!

For instance...not being patient can be a good thing...when I want to get something done, I do it right away! But it also sucks...let me list the ways...

  • Losing weight...I wanted it off yesterday...so I rarely am able to stick to a DIET...which is why I need to have a LIFESTYLE change...that will probably work better.
  • Raising kids...if you have kids, you have no need for me to explain, if you don't...well let me just say--If you are already bad with TIME (such as myself)...forget every being on time to anything again, (although blaming kids for being late is a useful tool). Waiting for them to clean something up...waiting for them to tell you something...waiting for them to actually GET what is happening in the sport they are playing...waiting for them get better from an illness...the list goes on and on.
  • Material Things--I am a horrible store browser because I ALWAYS find something I absolutely NEED at the exact moment I see it in the store! It takes every OUNCE of will power to pull myself away and NOT buy it. But since being married I have gotten better at this...unless it comes to Camera supplies or computers (Or buying clothes for my kids)...I try not to walk into stores that possess those things! :) So what I am saying is...I have a hard time WAITING to save for somthing...I confess, I am getting better at it!
  • Waiting for a blogger who shall not be named (REE) to comment on my blog...I'm done...I've lost interest...forget about it! Who REALLY cares...and I don't have the patience to wait 16 and 1/2 years to get her to comment...so I forfeit my humor because it no longer amuses me...but I want to thank Insane Mama, Binks, and Kritta22--my unfailing soldiers who withstood this siege with me until I caved. (WoW...those romance novels are really having an effect on my writing...could be good and bad...hmmm.!)

Okay that is about it! I thank you ALL for playing yesterday! I had so much fun and the run was SO close this time...although KRITTA22 deserved alot more votes in my perspective because, no lie, it was SOOOO funny! But so were the rest of them.

I shall leave you with this...

Anything you need to tell me about yourself?

Don't You Hate It When--COME PLAY!!!

****WOW--an email vote coming in @ 9:59am clinch the winner SHANNON...congratulations!!! Barbalootsuit you came in at a very close second...seriously that was crazy!!!

I will be emailing you Shannon with a Blog button for winning this week and you are now one of the 4 that will be in for the running at the end of the month for the GRAND PRIZE! :) Thanks again for everyone playing!!! :) See you next week!!! There is still ONE MORE CHANCE before the poll!

Don't You Hate It When… You have until 10AM Tuesday, October 21, 2008-to vote for your favorite!!!

You are dressed up, thinking you look pretty good if not INCREDIBLE, and have been talking to people pretty much ALL day…then you go into the restroom, go to the bathroom, go to wash you hands, and to your HORROR you look in the mirror and (da da dum) you have a CLIFF HANGER (booger) in your nose…there, for everyone to see, and NOBODY had the decency to tell you!!! NOBODY!!!

The day is almost over for you at work…and all you can think of is "When did that get there? Who saw it? Why didn't anybody tell me? Whose out there laughing or throwing up in disgust from seeing this cliff hanger just hanging there…in my nose…for them to stare and fixate on? HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN THERE!"

Then you just get mad because if things were twisted around YOU would have told THEM that they had a cliff hanger! YOU would have been a decent person…YOU would have not let them walk around like a complete idiot with something sitting in your nose, SHOUTING, "Hey look at me, I'm in her nose, come make fun of me, come see me and be disgusted!"

Yea I hate when that happens…

If you are ANONYMOUS I ask that you attach your name and email address at the bottom of your comment...or shoot me an email so that we all know you are a REAL person! :) And remember...you can only vote once!

(If you have won already...
KENZ and NAN...you can't win this week...but if you post a Don't You Hate It When post and link up...I will count that as an extra vote when we vote for the winner of the month!)

Okay this is what you are playing for in the month of OCTOBER

You can pick your own color and engrave something on the back! If you have one yourself...you can always use it as a Christmas Gift for someone else...Pretty cool right? :)

Okay...now LINK away!

Love Shelle

Nobody gets out alive anyway...

***Get your POSTS ready for DON'T YOU HATE IT WHEN...contest tomorrow! Here are some examples. Who will be the next winner? You want that IPOD SHUFFLE right? lol! Thanks to all those that have participated thus far!!!***

I am on the road traveling. I don't have a lot of time to post...but I wanted to let you guys know that when I get home I am jumping on my Google Reader to catch up and comment on your incredible lives...that I enjoy being a part of! :)

Here is something I like to think about when I get all stressed and wound up...it keeps me laughing!

"Never take life too seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway. "

I found myself getting really wound up this week because of some things I have read on the internet. Personal blogs and other sites attacking the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, something I love and believe in. They try to convince others that the "Mormon" religion is deceitful and blasphemous...that they need to breakdown things and attack what I believe in. This is what I want to say to those people...just because I need to get it off of my chest...if you want to try and convince me that what I believe is truly wrong and deceitful...then don't ATTACK what I love, because that just makes me want to defend it...tell me of YOUR religion, what you believe and why YOU love it...stop using all your energy and resources and time looking up things to tear down, and spend more time maybe sharing your love of your religion.

I don't really know...it just seems like it would be a better tactic.

Let me put it this way. When I was younger people sometimes would make fun or talk rude about one of my family members...I would defend them with every breath because of my deeper love for them...even if that SAME day I had gotten in a fight with that family member and told them how much I didn't like them and wanted to never TALK to them again! lol!

I also wanted to let people know out there whether you are a member of my religion or not...that I do have a testimony of it. That I LOVE my Savior, Jesus Christ, that I am INDEED thankful for his sacrifice and atoning blood so that I may live with him and my Heavenly Father again someday. I believe there are prophets that live today who lead and guide us and I am so thankful for that. That I know without the gospel in my life that my life wouldn't be the same, that I wouldn't find the deep contentment and happiness that I have. I truly love it and I truly believe it.

So anyway, it makes me sad that people are like that...I have many friends that are not of my faith and I love their inner beauty and their commitment to their faiths. I believe the product of something, is what I can decide for myself, whether or not that thing is good or bad. I am hoping that there are more people like that then the latter.

So I laughed and decided to just let it go...and as the quote says, "Never take life too seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway"...

And now I can breathe again!

Hope you guys have a good Sunday...and can't wait to catch up! You'll be hearing from me! :)

Oh how I love being called Sweet Muffin!

So I found something out yesterday that I didn't know previous to yesterday. I hate dislike Field Trips...or a better way to put it is...I hate dislike being the Parent Volunteer on 1st grade field trips...yes...that's much better.

The kids...LOVED it...the teachers...planned a great outing for the kiddos...

Me?

Hated Disliked it!-I'm going to be conveniently busy the next few years of his school-going-field-tripping-life!

The Field trip was to the Corn Maze...I hate corn mazes...because, I'm ashamed to say, I have never successfully entered one without getting myself lost in it, and then Claustrophobia, that I have never really even had a problem with, kicks in...and this happens only with Corn Mazes...OH do I have stories. Just another reason why I don't enjoy Halloween so much.

Moving right along. Like a good Mom I brought my camera (Not my NICE one...I want to save the embarrassing things such as hauling all kinds of camera equipment to kids' events when they get into high school) to take pictures of the whole shin-dig...

See DCar in the middle there...the one just a tad bit taller than the rest of the kids? Yea, that is how I look when I am in a TV coma...it's funny how those kinds of genes are passed down from generation to generation.

AH! There we go...that's my boy...answering a very important question...I'm sure of it!

Since he is kinda the taller one of the group...he wasn't able to stand right by the gate ever because he was always asked to move back so someone shorter could get in and see...so he didn't really get to pet the animals...so I snuck him away from learning about the sick HOG to pet the miniature horse!

Sorry DCar...you'll thank me for your height later in your life...I'm sure of it! :)

Here we are on the Wagon...that took us to the Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze...YEEEE HAW!
In honor of Pioneer Woman...who I know will comment some day on my blog (lol)...I caught some pictures of what my son was so intently looking at...

A Texas Longhorn itching his...well, if I have to explain what, then you shouldn't be reading my blog!

Those Cows...well Rudy over there and her plus one, are eating...but from my Point and Shoot camera's point of view...it looks like they're sleeping right?

We are in the Corn Maze...where I had placed myself in the back to bring up the rear...I think I creeped that kid out? Maybe it was the, "Pay attention...creepy guys are hiding in these Corn Stalks to scare us...I know this kind of stuff...just trust me...wwwwoooooooo"...yea, maybe that was it...but I just wanted a picture of the kids holding hands...they had to do that the whole time we walked anywhere with their partners. I thought the teacher was pretty tricky placing partners in boy/girl pairs! (BTW--somehow I ended up leading for a bit...TOTALLY got us lost...they had to ring the bell to lead us back in the right direction!!!)

At the end of the whole thing...when I couldn't see past my nose because of all the COUNTRY AIR I was sniffing (learned that smell was not Manure...but Alf Alfa...remind me that when I become an expert gardener someday and own/run a farm...to find a way to make Alfalfa smell better!) The people that run the farm take the kids around in this train pulled by a fast Tractor...if that is what it is called...anyway

They loved it...and I liked that we went to lunch right after it! :)

Okay, I will Admit, the part of the Field trip where the kids said things like, "WOW, you're pretty", and "You're Awesome!"(which has to be true because kids don't lie right? They tell you like it is right?) Oh and the "I like you, I want to be in your group", and where there was almost a fight trying to get into my group, I liked that!

And on the bus where a sweet boy stood up and said, "You are a Sweet Muffin"!

I said, "Who's a Sweet Muffin?"

The boy said, "You are! Because you are so pretty!"

and another little boy stood up and said, "No she's a Princess!"

and I said, "Why Thank you boys...no need to fight over my sweet endearments...we can just call me Princess Sweet Muffin!" Where all the kids then laughed! :) I love being the comedian. Kids really get me!

Note to Self: Don't start farm related kids songs, such as B-I-N-G-O, on the bus...kids will continue song until end of bus ride...shouting at the top of their lungs...and also take IB Profin for headache caused by Country Air smell combined with shrieking BINGO song!

Love ya,

Shelle

P.S. The light at work this morning...totally went out while I was going the bathroom...talk about FREAKY!

Do people REALLY know who they are voting for?

Okay I don't listen to Howard Stern at all, but was emailed this by a trusted source...and couldn't believe it! This is WHY the election and politics is so SCARY to me.

Do people REALLY care about the issues? Or do they care just if a politician looks good, or not, or because of race, or creed, or all of the above?

If you haven't delved into each presidential candidates policies than studied the issues and the view points, than I say, you shouldn't vote. Don't just vote to vote...vote because you REALLY want to see that person do what they are proposing to do when they get ELECTED! And KNOW what you are voting for...KNOW what changes they plan to make...

This actually makes me sick to my stomach...

Seriously people...seriously?

It's not the fact that they are saying they want to vote for OBAMA...it could be MCCAIN...its the fact that they have NO IDEA why they are voting for him. They think Sarah Palin is running with OBAMA...they don't even flinch at their answers they are so sure of agreeing!

Talk amongst yourselves...

Does anyone have a trash can?

Or will you hold my hair back?

I think I'm going to puke!

Why I don't much care for Halloween--what the linky love?

Like the header says, "I'm TRYING to win another contest!"--focus on TRYING. I enter so many contest it kills me...my husband finds it humorous...but unlike the lottery, I always feel I have a chance...except for those that use the stupid Random Integer thingy they find on the internet...I curse that thing or whomever came up with it...I NEVER win...it has something against me.

So I have a strategy...I try to enter things with 10 or less people entered...or enter contests where I have to be smart or creative and they pick depending on ability(okay I never win those either)...such as MY COOL CONTEST I hold every Monday! :) lol! I kill myself! Or the odds have to be in my favor...anyway, Insane Mama is having a contest...not sure when it ends...but I get more points if I enter a Halloween post...hence the post title--but because I have NO idea when it ends I went over to her site to see if she might have announced the winner of the unending contest...but she hadn't, and now there is like 90 entries...so I have gone against all I believe...I'm entering a BIG contest AND it's Random! Freak!

I'm going to tell you why Halloween is NOT my favorite Holiday...I'm probably going to lose some followers over this...and I KNOW that one of Hugh Hefner's bunnies on Girls Next Door will look down upon me also...but this HAS to be said. Not EVERYONE can love this holiday right? There has to be others like me!

If you read my recent MEME-YOUYOU post...on number 1 it states that I scare easily. This alone should make you understand why I don't really care for Halloween. I HATE...HATE scary movies/horror films. They give me a creepy, evil feeling...and I miss half the movie anyway because I'm hiding behind the blankets. Part of that could stem from watching a marathon of America's Most Wanted when I was 10...not sure...but that could be some reason why I scare easily. The only thing I'm NOT scared of is Haunted Houses...Forests...whatever. I think they are dumb...but when I'm FORCED into going to them...I take some pleasure seeing other people scream...and then laughing at them!lol!

But what I hate more than ANYTHING and why I have fallen in LOVE with TRUNK OR TREATS is not only can I get the trick or treating done with two heaping bags full of candy in 60 minutes and be home before the sun is completely down...but I also can avoid walking up to houses where they have someone dressed up, sitting on the porch as if they are dead! I HATE those houses...I am terrified of them...and they make you look dumb because you sit there and contemplate if it's real or not...but the desire for the TREAT over powers your good since to RUN and you walk up to the door anyway...ever cautious of the DUMMY/REAL MAN ready to assault you, or at least scare the living day lights out of you! *shudder* I really hate those things!

When I was 10 or 11 I liked Halloween. (I can't remember now exactly what age I was...but I'll never forget the experience that turned me from this horrid holiday...but it was after the America's Mosted Wanted marathon for sure).
I was dressed as Pippy Longstocking. My mom loved dressing me as her...because I had the freckles and she made my hair stick out with a hanger that she masterfully snaked through my hair and colored with Red/Orange hair coloring.

This was back in the day when Trunk or Treats where not even a memory and you had to run/walk from house to house, knock on neighbors and strange people's door and say, "Trick or Treat" like a thousand times in the freezing weather.

This particular and fateful Halloween I was trick or treating with my brother and his friends. We were suppose to stay together...but I always liked to forge ahead and stake out the scary houses and then wait in the dark to watch my brother and his friends get scared...then I would laugh at them.

So I was by myself...walking up towards the next home...it was eerily silent except for the haunting, classical, Halloween music playing from the house. My Brother and his friends were quite aways behind me as I turned to check their status. I looked forward and proceeded on my way. As I usually was back then, and most of the time now as my husband would say, I was in my own little world...because I didn't see the fake dead man until it was too late. I looked up...and stared...frozen in my terror. The hanger holding up my hair begin to feel to small...my palms began to sweat even though it was freezing temperatures...and my mouth had fallen open. I only remember my mouth because I remember the desperate thirst for water. The fake dead man didn't move. I stood there for what seemed like forever. I tentatively whispered, "Trick or Treat"? But nothing. I became confused at what I should do...I NOW was not only scared but confused. Perfect America's Most Wanted images trickled through my brain of men snatching innocent girls and cutting their throats or kidnapping them for them to never see their parents. I took a step closer to see if I could see his chest moving...and he jumped up and lunged towards me while yelling in a deep voice"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!"

Forgetting about the candy I dashed away screaming as if I was going to die and ran smack dab into my brother and friends. Who were laughing at me because they had watched the whole thing.

I flipped my head in disdain and caught one of them in the eye...boowahahaha...okay i lied...I didn't, but what a great story if I did! :)

So I dislike Halloween...and fake scary men ready to scare young Pippy Longstockings!!! And boys...and....and...

Thanks Insane Mama for making dig up deep disturbing issues...

For lighter news...I have the BEST blogging circle and friends in the WORLD...I know you guys think YOU do...but you're being punk'd...it's definitely me! :)

So you will understand when I show you the love that was showered my way! :)...I'm SO dang lucky! :)

Tiff gave me this award...and I was seriously SHOCKED...I want to tell her THANKS! She found me off of Bayou Belle's and her Beau's and she is so real and down to earth on her blog. She loves God and that is the biggest thing we have in common!
I am suppose to pass this on to 4 friends and one from another country...
1. Binks--I LOVE her posts...she gets my humor(like commenting on Ree's website daily) and her comments make my day! :)
2. Kritta22--I feel like the girls my sister...really I do...she'll talk about anything...she doesn't mind embarrassing herself...and she is DONATING to my contest! Plus she says, "I heart you" what's not to love! :)
